Bert Knotts brings to his role as President of SRA Consulting more than four decades of experience in credit risk management, regulatory oversight, and banking leadership. He leads the firm’s credit risk practice offering consulting and lending solutions across community, regional, and specialty finance clients.

As President, Bert has oversight of all our consulting business lines including business development, technology partnerships and financial management. He also continues to direct engagements in credit risk management, loan resolution, lending strategy, and M&A credit due diligence. His work helps financial institutions strengthen portfolio performance, align risk governance, and execute disciplined growth strategies.

Before co-founding SRA, Bert served as Senior Vice President and Head of Credit Review Services at Capital One Financial Corporation, where he was responsible for the independent assessment of the company’s credit card, auto, and commercial lending businesses, as well as the credit due diligence of large-scale acquisitions. Earlier, he was Executive Vice President and Head of Portfolio Management for First Union’s Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions, following prior roles as Senior Credit Officer for Corporate Banking, Chief Credit Officer Union Trust Bank, and Deputy Manager of Credit Audit.

Bert began his career with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), earning his National Bank Examiner Commission in the Western District and later serving as a Multi-National Bank Examiner in New York City with responsibility for global banking organizations.

He is a past Chairman of the Risk Management Association’s Loan Review Roundtable and holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Washington.
