Amitabh Bhargava serves as Partner and Chief Credit Officer at SRA Consulting, bringing more than three decades of experience in credit risk management, analytics, and portfolio oversight across wholesale and consumer lending.

At SRA, Amitabh advises community and regional banks on strengthening credit processes, regulatory readiness, and portfolio performance. He leads initiatives spanning independent credit reviews, CECL and ACL validation, portfolio stress testing, M&A due diligence, Enterprise Valuation, and Fractional CCO services. His work increasingly is focusing on modernizing credit practices through exception-based monitoring, credit policy redesign, and the responsible integration of Artificial Intelligence into credit and portfolio management frameworks.

Prior to joining SRA, Amitabh oversaw credit analytics and research for Capital One’s wholesale portfolio, where he identified emerging risks and influenced key risk acceptance and avoidance decisions. Earlier in his career, he held leadership roles in executive credit risk assessment, Risk MIS development, and portfolio modeling across both retail and commercial portfolios.

Amitabh is an accredited Credit Risk Certified (CRC – RMA) professional, Financial Risk Manager (FRM – GARP), Sustainability and Climate Risk Professional (SCR-GARP) and CFA Charterholder. He serves on the Board of RMA Richmond, is a past president of the Richmond Association of Business Economics (RABEva), and served on the Regulatory Steering Committee of the International Association of Credit Portfolio Managers (IACPM).

He earned his B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi and his MBA from XLRI Jamshedpur, India.
