Steve Lane is a founding partner at SRA Consulting LLC (SRA) and Practice Leader for Mergers & Acquisitions and Stress Tests. He has over 35 years of commercial banking, M&A, and equity and mezzanine investment experience.  

Mr. Lane leads SRA’s M&A practice and over the last 18 years has led the credit due diligence on a number of bank-to-bank acquisitions, mergers of equals, large bank recapitalizations and private equity bank investments.  He provides buyers and merger partners with deep experience in assessing and acquiring banks.

Prior to SRA, Steve headed the mergers and acquisitions due diligence team for First Fidelity Bancorporation, then the nation’s 25th largest banking institution.  He then headed First Fidelity’s (subsequently First Union’s) SBA Lending and Community Development Lending and Investment Groups.  Before joining First Fidelity, Mr. Lane was employed by the United States Comptroller of the Currency, where he worked for seventeen (17) years and became the Senior Regulator for Highly Leveraged Transactions.

Mr. Lane is also the Founder and President of LVIR Investors a mezzanine lending and equity investment fund and has led the direct equity/mezzanine investment units of the Dime Savings Bank of New York, a multi-billion dollar financial institution and First Fidelity Bancorp.  

Mr. Lane is a Chartered Financial Analyst and holds both a BS and an MBA from Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, Virginia.  He is also a Graduate of the Stonier School of Banking at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, New Jersey.
